The Bowman-Slope SCD has purchased a Lawson Aerator to help
producers address their conservation needs. This machine is 16 feet
wide, has 30 inch drums, and weighs approximately 28,000 pounds. The
goal for this equipment is to smooth out and aerate rough ground including
CRP, hayland, and pastures. In theory, the blades on this machine will
stimulate the roots of rhizominus plants to enhance vegetative growth and
improve infiltration rates.
The SCD will provide a tractor and driver for the machine
and the cost is $12/acre plus fuel, with a $300 minimum.
